Final layouts...

Here are some images of my final layouts. I finished up all the details for weeks 1-3. As you can see I'm using the days of the week labels for my journaling and the clear letter stickers for my photos. I'm putting the clear stickers on a punched out colored paper to give them a bit more pop. Week 3, I used a yellowish color and think I like the bolder colors better. It's hard to read the white letter on the yellow paper. I really like my mix of 4x6 horizontal photos with the 3x4 vertical photos. I also think I have a good mix of computer generated journaling and handwriting. It's definitely easier to do the handwritten cards, but I think the computer print looks so much nicer! ;) Anyway, hope you enjoy.

Days 20, 21, 22, 23

This weekend the whole family went up to Keystone. It was so much fun. Zach's parents rented a house for the weekend and we all had fun playing games, eating some good food, and just being around each other. We all arrived on Friday night (us being the last to arrive, because I worked all day) and ate some dinner and then played Pop 5. Saturday the guys went snowboarding and the girls took Coda sledding and then to lunch and some shopping at the Outlets. We then all returned to the house for some good food and more games. The boys went to go play hockey at the outdoor skating rink and the rest of us played some wii. Sunday was the end of our fun weekend, so we grabbed a nice family group shot. We really had a great time! Thanks Bart and Kathy for all the FUN!!

Day 20 (1.16.09)

Day 21 (1.17.09)
Also using a 3x4 image for this day. This is Holden and his little cousin Amelia. Amelia is 3 months older then Holden. Aren't they adorable in their matching outfits.

Day 22 (1.18.09)

Day 23 (1.19.09): Zach took the boys to go watch his cousin, Matt, play hockey at the promenade. This is a picture of Coda and Molly watching the game.

365 Kit Update...

OK, so remember this, the weird journaling card. Well, I still swear that it's not right, but I got a response from Creating Keepsakes and they say, "Nope, this is what the artist intended it to look like." Well, I still don't buy it. I just can't believe it. I mean, it doesn't go with the kit at all. It makes no sense. Anyway, I'm going to try and e-mail Becky Higgins herself. Who knows if I'll get a response, but I'm going to try. I'll let you know if I find anything out.

Also, has anyone used any of the downloadable journaling cards? I love them!! I really wanted to type some of my journaling (I have horrible handwriting). And this is the perfect way to be able to do that. I can't wait to show you a finished layout. But here is one of my typed journal cards. This will go on the first week. It will be the journaling to go with Day 1.

Days 18 and 19

Day 18 (1.14.09): Yesterday when I left work there was a beautiful sunset. I <3 heart <3 Colorado sunsets. This one wasn't even the best I'ld ever seen. But still. I wanted to remember it. So, I snapped a photo. It was going to be my photo of the day. But then, I saw this one that Zach took when they were running errands at Office Max. I just love the way Holden is looking at Coda like, "What are you doing?!?" and Coda looks as if he's spinning in that chair at 100mph. So, I just decided to use them both.
Day 19 (1.15.09): I think I would fail miserably at this project if Zach wasn't around helping me, wait scratch that, if he wasn't completely doing the entire project (at least the photo part). Today he took the boys to The Hop. If you haven't been and you have toddler to young school age children, you have to go. It's awesome!! The best jumpy castle place I've ever been to. Anyway, while Coda was being a mad man running around everywhere, I'm sure, Zach let Holden "play" and snapped these photos. I love how you can see the drool in the vertical! It's great.

Days 16 and 17

Day 16 (1.12.09): Coda's first solo swimming lesson. Coda loves the water. Absolutely loves it. We got a season pass to Water World last year and he would have gone every day if it was up to him. He wanted to go down all of the slides. Well, he doesn't know how to swim yet. And no fear and not knowing equals danger. So, we decided he was old enough to take swim lessons. We finally got him all signed up and he had his first class on Monday. He loved it. He wasn't scared to try anything either. He had expressed to us that he was nervous to go because he didn't want to put his head under water. Well, when it was time to get dunked, he had no problems.
Day 17 (1.13.09): This was a week of first. We also decided to get him all signed up for ice skating lessons. Since Zach plays hockey, Coda always talks about wanting to play. It was really fun to watch him learn. He spent most of the lesson on his butt. But when he did get moving, he really got moving. He was a little speed demon.

frame project

Here are the photos from the boys art project we made for Coda's sleepover. I got some foamies from Michaels and let them put them on a black frame that I cut out. I then printed out a collage photo of them from the sleepover and put it on with a black thin foam to the back. It was fun and easy!

One Year Ago - January

Studio Callico did this great blogpost a few days ago about one year ago. Here is us one year ago. It was great to go back and look at the old photos. I found these from January 8, 2008 at the Denver Children's Museum. And then I found some from the same museum on January 9, 2009. How funny is that! Coda still loves the tools. Last year today, we didn't even know that we would soon be a family of 4. It wasn't until the next week we found out we were expecting. And now, we have an almost 4 month old little boy. Crazy! What were you doing one year ago today?

Day 15

Day 15 (1.11.09): After church, we as a family, usually go out for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Today we decided to get Mimi's. We also go to BW3's quite a bit if we are craving lunch. It's really nice going to church with the whole family and being able to enjoy a bit of our Sunday together. We really are blessed to have such a great family.

Day 14

Phew...I'm all caught up!
Day 14 (1.10.09): Tonight was a little crazy. Coda had his first sleep over with one of his best friends, Zachary. We just got them into "bed", they aren't even close to being asleep. But, hey, they're in the room. We had lots of fun. A bit hectic, but fun. We took Coda's bed down and set up a big camping tent for them to sleep in. They played toys, v-smile, had a pizza party, watched a little bit of The Mighty Ducks, roasted marshmallows, did shadow puppets, phew...I'm getting tired just thinking of everything they did in a short 4 hours. Oh, we also did an art project. We made little frames, that I will print this picture out for them. I'll try and remember to take a picture of the final project and put it up on the blog for you to see.

Day 13

Day 13 (1.9.09): Zach went and watched the Penguins practice at the Westminster Promenade Ice Arena. But still, GO AVS!

Days 11 and 12

Day 11 (1.7.09): Here are some pictures that Zach took when he took the boys to Paul Derda rec center. It's kind of a bummer, because we now have to pay $4 for Coda to go there and play. I mean it seems a little silly. It's just a glorified McDonalds play area.
Day 12 (1.8.09): I had so many great pictures of Coda playing vet at the Denver Childrens Museum, but I had this one of Zach on his iPhone. And well, this is so true of our lives. You can always see us playing around, checking our e-mail or whatever on our iPhones. I know that we will have many more trips to the children's museum to use some time later in the year. For now, I just had to use this one. I'm trying to get some "regular" shots too, and not just the trips and events.

Days 8, 9, and 10

Day 8 (1.4.09): I knew that I wanted to have a photo of us at church, so I figured why not start the year off with it. Here is a photo of our worship team at Rock Creek Church. We really love it there. We've been going since we moved here (so 5 years now). This Sunday, we slept in and missed the first service, but we made it to the 10:30am service.
Day 9 (1.5.09): Coda started preschool this year at Appletree. He really loves it. He goes MWF mornings from 8:45am to 11:15am. His favorite letter is T (I'm not sure why, I think it's because he can make himself look like a T). He really enjoys his teacher, Mrs. Higgins, and all of his friends. The picture of him outside shows him jumping off of the ledge (something he has to do everyday).
Day 10 (1.6.09): Coda gets this horrible cough every year (at least once during the winter). Well, he has it again, and so we took him into the doctor to make sure it wasn't anything more serious. It wasn't, thankfully. Just a dry Colorado cough. Something he'll just have to get used to. I'm lucky enough to not be a cougher, but Zach is just like Coda in that department.

Day 7

First week is over. I did it. I took a photo or more everyday for the first week. That wasn't so bad. I really hope I can keep up with this for the whole year.

Day 7 (1.3.09): Saturday, Zach went to go play hockey, so I took the boys to get some dono's at the dono showw-showw. Mmmmm... it was good. Later that afternoon, we all went to a birthday celebration for our neighbors first birthday. Pictured here is Coda eating a doughnut and Holden in the Bjorn at the birthday celebration.

Day 6

Day 6 (1.2): I went back and forth on this photo. I had another photo of my 3 month old son sitting in his swing that I was going to use, but then decided to use this one. I felt like it really documents my life right now. I work full time, so I have to pump at work. And that's a really big part of my day. I go to work, pump twice while I'm there, come home and put yesterday's milk in freezer bags (if there is any left) and put the fresh milk in a container for the next day. Then I have to take all of my pump parts and bottles and put them in the dishwasher to be ready to start all over again tomorrow! -- This was actually a horizontal photo, but I decided to crop it to a 4x3, so I could use the larger space for more journalling. --

Day 5

Day 5 (1.1): This is what me and Zach will be looking like for the next 364 days. :) Speaking of, I guess since I started on Sunday (the 28th) I will actually be doing more then 365 days. Since I would like to document all of 2009. Hmmm...I wonder if there is enough pages in the kit for that. I haven't really thought of that. Oh, well, I'm sure I can figure something out.

Days 3 and 4

For day 3 (12.30.08) I decided to use a vertical 4x3 image and do my journaling in the 4x6 slot. Here is a photo of my son being an astronaut at the Denver Museum of Natural Science.
Day 4 (12.31.08): Coda giving his auntie "m" a big New Years Eve kiss.

Days 1 and 2

I finally decided on my pics. Here is day 1: I decided to start with Sunday. Mostly because I love these images. Us trying to have a lazy Sunday morning and "sleep" in.

And day 2: My oldest son, Coda, going on a pirate hunt (geocaching).

As you can tell, I can't just pick one image from the day. I'll probably use multiple images for a lot of days. But, I like the way it looks, at least on the computer. I uploaded my photos to be printed, so I'll see how they look in the album. Can't wait to start putting it all together. More days to come tomorrow.

What is this???

Doesn't this journalling card seem wrong?? If anyone else has the 365 kit, please tell me if you have this in the comment section below. It doesn't work with the rest of the kit.

Project 365

I am really excited to start this new project. It's called Project 365. One of my favorite scrapbookers, Becky Higgins came out with this awesome kit that you basically document one year of your life with pictures and journaling. The idea behind it is to take a photo a day and journal about it. I'm excited to get past just scrapbooking about major milestones and big events. I think this will really help me journal our everyday lives and take more pictures. I've decided to start this blog for my scrapbooking and photography. A big part of it right now, will have to do with Project 365. I just got my kit via the brown truck today, and I'm so excited to get started. I've been debating which photos I want to use to document the first week. I went back and forth and back and forth deciding. I think I've finally decided and I've uploaded them and printed them. Now, I just have to work on my handwriting, since most of my journalling will be handwritten. Yikes!! So, keep checking back for more updates. I'll be posting some of the photos I've chosen to document the first week and will post the layouts as I finish them. Enjoy! And don't forget to leave comments!
